XTB & XTB-II/R Ordering Information

The XTB and XTB-II/R are Do-It-Yourself projects being offered as a bare printed circuit board, or a complete parts kit.  More information is available on the XTB Home Page.  Please refer to the XTB or XTB-II/R Assembly Notes before ordering the kit.  Assembly should only be attempted by someone skilled at soldering high-density printed circuit boards.

An assembly service is available for those who do not want to assemble the XTB or XTB-II/R by themselves.  Since I didn't have the resources necessary to obtain UL approval for the XTB, a signed Liability Waiver is required for the pre-assembled XTB, and for any version of the XTB-II.  The waiver contains enough legalese to make your head spin, but it is summarized pretty well at the bottom.  A unit will be custom assembled and tested for you upon receipt of a signed waiver.  You can either send it to the indicated address, or email me a scanned copy in a printable electronic format.

Please check the X10 and Leviton electrical items we also have available, including the plug-in X10 filter at 50% off the X10 price.  Free shipping in the USA when ordered with an assembled XTB or XTB-IIR.

Assembled XTB-IIR Kit  (see note below)

AVAILABILITY:

The XTB-II has been discontinued except for the single-output 240V 50Hz version for Europe.  A single-output 240V 50Hz version of the XTB-IIR is now available, but the XTB-II may still be the best choice to pair with the European version of the CM11A.  A triple-output version of the XTB-IIR for 3-phase "Y" distribution systems is now available.  Kits are supplied with RoHS compliant components where available.  An assembled 240V 50Hz non-RoHS version is available on request.  Please contact me for further information.  Be aware that the customs form will show the actual cost of the unit, and you may be responsible for an additional duty charge.

All components are currently in stock.  Kits will usually ship the next day.  Assembled units are usually shipped within 3 days, but it may take longer during heavy demand.  I will try to have all orders received by Wednesday ready for shipping on the following Monday.  While I do keep an inventory of parts on hand, there have been significant delays when my suppliers backordered critical components.  I will place a notice here if the delay will be more than two weeks.

Due to a sudden flurry of orders for the XTB-IIR, the custom machined cases may run out before the next shipment arrives in mid-July.  Once they are gone, I will continue to assemble and test the boards when ordered so they are ready to ship as soon as the new cases arrive.

PRICING:

The XTB and XTB-II/R are not made in China in huge volume.  Kits are priced at the single-quantity component prices, plus enough to cover kitting expenses and various fees.  The continual decline in the value of the dollar is forcing component prices up.  I have been able to absorb the increases by ordering in larger quantities, but I will be soon forced to pass them on.  The XTB-IIR kit includes $10 to compensate for the hundreds of hours that have gone into its firmware development.  The assembly charges for the XTB-II/R reflect the larger amount of time it takes to assemble and test those units.  A quote from an assembly service was $90 each at 40 units, so this is still a bargain.  For those of you who can supply your own components, the PCBs and custom components are available by themselves.

The XTB and XTB-II are DIY projects, and are not commercial devices with UL approval.

The XTB is available in both kit and custom assembled versions.  I can supply the components needed to convert the XTB to 240V 50Hz operation, but the XTB-II is a better choice for that application.

SHIPPING:

Priority Mail is used inside the US with a flat-rate charge based on weight (see prices above).  First Class Mail is the most cost effective way to ship to Canada.  No tracking is available, but all shipments have been delivered promptly.  All other international shipments will now go via Express Mail International, which does include in-route tracking.  That service costs about $40, but please contact me for the exact shipping charge to your country.
